When you were a kid, what was your favorite video game? Legend of Zelda was rad (still is) and playing as Merlin in Gauntlet was a youthful highlight, but…

I can still remember in my parent’s basement playing NHL ’94 for seasons at a time, pretending I actually was Sergei Fedorov on my beloved Red Wings. Oh man, those were some great times on the imaginary ice of my Nintendo system.

Dads Share Their Favorite Video Games From Their Childhood

William Vernetti: It was called Go Outside. Had no paddles, no console, and no game cartridges. Was fun as hell and often caused minor to moderate bloodshed. Yeah, I’m old.

Atom Emery: Man these answer are a bit annoying. “My game was outside”. Jesus. You know what. I did both. We weren’t lazy kids. We where taught balance. We would play some games on Nintendo, then run out side and play full contact capture the flag till it was to dark to see. Or ride bikes all over the place. That being said…
NHL ‘94 on SEGA Genesis did take allot of mine and my friends indoor time.

Joshua Enos: How the hell isn’t super smash Bros or Starfox on here!? Those and 007 Golden Eye are still all time favorite games for me!

Dominic Chavez: Going back to the Sega Master System to today’s PS4, that’s a lot of gaming lol. I’m not sure I can pinpoint a favorite game. But I loved playing pretty much everything. Currently, it’s Fortnite.

Steve Lamb: Super Mario Bros. Twisted Metal 2. And Spider Man! I got more but those are my Top 3! And being a Father to 3, they relive the same with their friends! But some like their Call of Duty etc.

John Yusko: Pitfall II, Atari 2600. So many levels down! Zillion, on sega master system. Spent weeks on it. Later, Goldeneye, Rogue Squadron and my favorite, Legacy of Kain on PS1.

Craig Jock Thomson: Gran Turismo, and I’m ripping my hair out that I have to wait to play it when other country’s have it all over Facebook!!!

Herman Contreras Jr.: Funny, all these old dudes bashing video games from a piece of technology greater than almost all gaming systems from their era. My dad got me into video games, we used to play Mike Tyson’s Punch Out regularly. Still play video games to this day.

Travis Callahan: It may be cliche as hell but I’m sticking with Chrono Trigger. So good I got it on SNES, Playstation and Wii and then re purchased it for SNES for 5 times what I paid when it was brand new just to have it again.

Curt Gunther Lothar Roehricht: Well I had quite a few games I loved at different stages as a kid but the one that immediately pops into mind is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2.

Jim Johnson: I had an Odyssey2 from Radio Shack. My favorite game was Pick Axe Pete. When I had a job and could afford my own system, I purchased a Genesis and played Sonic until my thumbs hurt.

Michael Showes: Xenogears on the PS1 for single player. Goldeneye for N64 for multiplayer with my cousin. We could play that game for 24hrs straight.

Michael Champion: The game I remember playing most as a kid was the original ‘Micro Machines’ great times on the Mega Drive.

Benjamin Rose: Resident Evil Director’s Cut. I almost threw my controller at the TV when I only got half of the Moon Crest after the killing that thing in the attic.

Ab. Velasco: A game for NES called Blaster Master.

Chad A. Kooiman: Tecmo Bowl or Tysons Punch Out!
