"Is anybody gonna help me get down from this thing?"

Over the past week, Babs has made impressive advancements in pulling herself up to a standing position.  My parents watched the baby over the weekend as Lucy and I went to a good friend’s wedding in New York.   When we returned, Babs was getting up, and standing up for her rights.

This 8-month-old can now stand up on her own while holding on to a piece of furniture.  Enter the Fisher Price “Laugh and Learn Musical Table,” which you see in the picture.  This unit was custom built to help babies stand for the first time.  Mission accomplished.

Here’s the funny thing about Babs.  She has figured out how to pull herself up, but she doesn’t yet know how to sit back down.

Babs loves to stand up and play with the bells, whistles, and music buttons on her table.  She’ll smile and laugh for ten minutes or so until she realizes something…she doesn’t know how to get down.

She could easily take the simple fall onto her bottom, which is padded in a cushiony diaper, so it wouldn’t hurt at all.  From there, she would be in perfect position to chase our dog, Mr. BoJangles around the house.  But instead, she starts scanning the room, looking for help while keeping both hands on the table.  If help has not yet arrived, Babs will start to whimper, and then will cry until we rescue her.

We’re here for you, baby girl.
