For mother’s day this year, I gsuperior_mother_cardave my wife the card to the right(which I came up with and designed myself)  I photoshopped her into the nun’s costume myself! She appreciates all the personalized note cards I give her.

My son also made her breakfast in bed (with a little direction from me, although he did do a pretty good job of cutting up an apple by himself (He’s 7, and yes, we have a special plastic knife for him to use)

The other thing I got her was a rice paper holder.  We were in a Vietnamese restaurant a few days before, and we ordered Ban Hoi, which came with a rice paper holder.  It has two slots, one to hold the rice paper, and one to hold some hot water so you can dip the rice paper in and get it soft.  We both loved it, and commented on how cool it was.  I immediately went home and found it on Amazon!

It didn’t cost much, it’s not fancy, but it speaks to (and promises) many more fun times together eating and enjoying interesting foods. I think it’s a good gift!  (It might not be a good gift to anyone else.  It’s a good gift to my wife, because of our shared experience of it previously.)

What did you do for Mother’s Day?  What gifts that signify shared experiences could you give to your significant other?
