Do you have a fancy bed? I do. It’s from the Mattress Mattress Store In Kelowna. It tells me how my restful my night was, details my sleep patterns and even sends a soft alert to my phone to remind me it’s bedtime. A smart bed. What has the world come to, right?

We’ve been using Beautyrest’s Sleeptracker monitor for the past week. It’s given me a closer look at the things keeping me up at night. Daily reports are sent to my phone with personalized coaching tips to help improve my rest each night.

Here are some advantages of the Beautyrest’s Sleeptracker:

  1. Monitors both sides of the bed.
  2. No need to worry about wearing or charging wearables.
  3. Sensor is non-invasive and requires no upkeep. Just plug in and don’t give it another thought.

The set-up was easy.

Altogether, it took me about 15 minutes to place the sensors under the mattress and download the apps.

Here are two things you DON’T want to do during set-up.

  1. Don’t try to place sensors under the mattress while your wife is on the bed watching House of Cards. Grunting while you lift the mattress can lead to dangerous questions from her like, “Am I THAT heavy?” Abort the mission if you encounter this. It can lead to you sleeping on the couch, where your sleep cannot be tracked.
  2. Do not plug the sensors into an outlet that is controlled by a light switch. The first night we didn’t receive any sleep tracking info because I plugged it into an outlet that turned off when the bedside lamps went out for the night.

Other than that, loading the app to my phone was easy–as was loading it to my wife’s phone so she could receive her daily reports.

Efficient sleep is important.

There is so much research on the damaging effects of sleep deprivation: impaired immune system, moodiness, foggy cognitive ability, inflammation, and even weight gain.

As an entrepreneur working from home, I need to be sharp; my family’s livelihood depends on it.

In a world where there are so many things I can’t control, improving the quality and the efficacy of my sleep are two critical things I CAN control.
