Me with Sophia and Sarah with Maddie

Me with Sophia and Sarah with Maddie.

Dads, fathers, gentleman, countrymen, and all my fellow man, I’d like to formally introduce myself. I’m Nick, I’m a dad, a husband, a writer, and a damn proud dad blogger.  I’ve been in the blogging game since February 2011, shortly before my wife, Sarah, and I welcomed our first daughter, Sophia, into the world. You can read all about my exploits at papabrownie dot com.

Why am I here? Well, the obvious answer is to write, post, blog, share, and connect with fellow dads. I’ve learned in the almost three years that I have been a father that I don’t know it all and that I’m never going to. Connecting with other dads, asking questions, swapping stories, advice, and getting their thoughts on all kinds of topics has–and will continue to be–and invaluable tool in parenting toolbox. Sarah may tell you that I think I know it all, that I don’t like to be wrong, and that I like to argue about anything and everything. On the surface, she should be right, but I know that I don’t know it all and she knows that, too. Of which she chooses to remind me regularly. She keeps me in line, keeps me straight, and most of all, keeps me humble. Without her, who knows where I’d be. I certainly wouldn’t have the two amazing daughters that I do now. And chances are, I wouldn’t be sitting here typing up this post right now.

Where was I? Right, connecting with other dads. Where I live, I don’t have many other dads that I go out and get together with. Most of my best friends live more than an hour away, so seeing them and their kids is always a long trip. I do have a few dads that I hang out with, including my “neighbro” and partner in podcasting crime, Ben, and you can go and check out his blog here, as well. My point is that coming onto a site like Life of Dad has given me an opportunity to connect with other dads, form relationships, and learn more about myself as a dad, and as a man, all at the same time.

What I’m going to share in this space, I have no idea. I always have ideas running through my head on what I want to write about, only to forget what I was thinking within 20 minutes. Mostly, you’ll read about my life with Sophia, Maddie, and Sarah. The lack of sleep a newborn baby is giving me, the tantrum-every-five-minutes that occur with a toddler, and of course, the stupid things I say and do in my life as a dad. And trust me, there are A LOT of those!

You can find me all over these here interwebs. You want links? I’ll give you links! You can find me on the Facebooks here and here. You can also find the Poppin’ Bottles Dad-Cast Facebook page here. I’m on twitter @brownie_22 and @PBDadCast. And, if for some reason, if you try listening to the Dad-Cast here and it isn’t working, head on over to our main hosting page to give us a listen here.

That’s all I got for you now, gents. I’m glad to be here and look forward to connecting, sharing, and talking with a lot more of you as the time passes! Cheers!
