It’s been eight years since Life of Dad launched. Eight years since the dream of our founder came to be. Eight years of building the ultimate destination for dads. Eight years of growth, changes, highs and lows, hits and misses. In that time we’ve grown our awesome community to one of the largest fatherhood sites in the world, and we are tremendously grateful for all of the love you have shown us through the years. It occurred to us recently that we’ve never taken the time to properly introduce ourselves, so on this Near-Anniversary, we wanted to give you all a sneak peek at the Life of Dad crew and what makes us tick.
Becky Merkinson- Founder
Becky started Life of Dad when she saw that there was a real need for the men in her life to have a place of their own. There were already plenty of Mom Bloggers out there and communities to support mothers of all kinds. But where was the spot for dad? So one weekend, she kicked back, bought a domain, and started Life of Dad. Initially conceptualized as a “Hot or Not” for dads, she transformed it to the community we know and love as more dads joined, and individual ratings were falling. Even for the best looking ones! Becky still helms Life of Dad as its Founder/ President and around here, we call her Dad #1.
Amanda Stachelswine- Operations
Becky’s college roommate for three years at Columbia University, Amanda has a passion for Event Planning and made it her career fresh out of college. Eventually, as event planning became increasingly automated, she proposed bringing her talents to Life of Dad. Ever since then, Becky has been instrumental in running all of the localized Life of Dad events like the Dad-Daughter-Diorama-Arama and the Fashionable Fathers runway series. When Amanda isn’t swimming in events, she can be found leading the charge on all father related content on Life of Dad. Her articles and videos offer the world her unique and genuine insight on what it really means to be a modern father.
Nicki Addelson- Communities Manager
Nicki joined the Life of Dad family in 2016. She had previously worked as a community manager for PetSmart, Friendster and Google +. Her expertise in all things Social Media made her invaluable to LoD. Nicki spent much of last year on an Eat Pray Love tour of Italy, Indonesia and India and wants to retire in Naples one day. While Nicki isn’t a parent herself, she loves being at the forefront of this amazing movement of fathers and considers herself the face of fatherhood.
Briana Vasquez- Branded Content Manager
Briana graduated from Barnard after double majoring in both Women’s Studies and Psychology. When she joined Life of Dad as its Branded Content Manager, she merged her education, personal experience with 6 older brothers and her natural creativity to deliver content she knew Dads everywhere would love. Her amazing work linking dads with things they connect with has allowed Life of Dad to thrive as a business and continue to provide awesome content and community for our followers.
