The Beer Guy will be sending his favorite 6-pack of beer to the 100th Twitter follower (@TheBeerGuyLOD), if achieved by April 19th.

Greetings Life of Dad Community!

Well, I must say that I am overwhelmed and humbled by the great response received after my first two blogs from last week introducing myself and reviewing my first beer for Life of Dad, the Widmer Spiced IPA.  While there was some disagreement over the final rating given, I respect everyone’s opinion.  After all, beer is different for each and every individual.  I may not like Scotch Ale’s; you might.  For that reason, for those of you who agreed with my assessment or mailed me thanking me for the warning, I just have to say that you can’t knock a beer until you try it.  Thanks again for the response.  I’m looking forward to continuing this blog, with my next review coming out Thursday.

Now, let’s open the mailbag…

Dear Beer Guy – Welcome to Life of Dad.  Will the beers you review be those you drink from the bottle, can or from the tap?  Thanks!  – Jim (Denver, Colorado)

Thanks, Jim.  Great question because beer can taste different depending on the type and how you drink it.  Click here for a good description of the difference.  (Note that some changes have been made since the writing of this article, but you get the point.)  For purposes of this blog, it will vary.  I’ll also make a point in letting you know whether the beer I had came from the tap, bottle or can.  Thanks, Jim.  TBG

Beer Guy – What’s wrong with you?  Only a 3 of 7 for the Widmer Spiced IPA? I thought it was awesome.  At least you reviewed it, otherwise I wouldn’t have ever heard of this limited release beer. – Frank (Los Angeles, CA)

Frank – We can agree to disagree.  As I stated above, beer can taste different from one person to the next.  The elements of tea just didn’t jive with my taste.  Glad to hear you enjoyed it.  TBG

Beer Guy – Can I make a recommendation on a future beer review?  – Mike (Burbank, CA)

Mike – Definitely.  Let me know what you like or don’t like.  I’ll try anything, as long as I can find it. TBG

On that note, have you gone to your local grocery store or liquor store and not found a beer you’re looking for?  Perhaps your brewery of choice doesn’t distribute locally.  Well, thanks to the good folks at Masters of None, with whom I’ve been actively Tweeting (@MastersofNone) today, they have recommended heading over to Beer Jobber to access beers not distributed locally.  Masters of None, Life of Dad Man Cave owners and hosts of a “podcast that doesn’t suck”, is heading to the Blue Point Brewing Company Cask Ales Festival this weekend.  Check them out!

Thanks for all the interest, e-mail and Tweets!  Keep them coming and keep an eye out for The Beer Guy’s weekly beer review, this Thursday.

So, what do you think?  Send me a note at The Beer Guy’s mailbag, TheBeerGuy@lifeofdad.com.  You can follow me on Twitter as well, @TheBeerGuyLOD.
