I didn’t want to write this post, but from a parenting standpoint, I felt like I had to.

I’m a family man, and a huge sports fan, so on many levels, the horrific story surrounding Penn State this week is devastating.

Everybody has their opinions, and I have mine.

If we are discussing the molestation of children, anybody that knew about the situation directly, or indirectly should have taken action.

Joe Paterno should have called the police.  His graduate assistant should have called the police.  The athletic director should have called the police.  Anybody else at the school that knew about the Jerry Sandusky situation should have called the police.  Did Paterno, the graduate assistant, or the athletic director break the law?  Maybe not…but they should not be in a position of leadership due to their inaction.

All parties aware of even a possibility of molestation had a moral responsibility to those children to call the authorities, and nobody did.

They all had to be removed from power.  Period.  End of story.

And I like Joe Paterno.  I like Penn State.  I really do.

But… for the sake of the effected children, the current Penn State football team, and the future of Penn State University, Joe had to go.

Agree or Disagree?
