LoD J4K v3Spring training is underway. Fans of the MLB can’t wait to travel to a warmer climate to catch an early glimpse of what their favorite team will look like this year. To celebrate the upcoming baseball season I am going to share with you some of the coolest kicks that a few of the well-known baseball players wore on the diamond.

The Big Hurt – Reebok Reebok-Big-Hurt-03

Frank Thomas was nicknamed, The Big Hurt, as he had a knack for knocking the snot out of the ball and out of the ball park. In 1996 Reebok launched the Big Hurt sneaker for Thomas. The shoe has black and white stripes and they came out last year for 2014 season. Both black and white versions are created using nubuck uppers that sit on a thick sole that feature CMEVA technology inside.

Another shoe that was released in 1996 was the Air Griffey Max 1. This was when Junior got his first true signature shoe. Griffey wanted a turf version of the model to pair with his cleats so that he could have access to both sneakers so he could switch between them for games and workouts. Nike was really happy with people’s reaction to the sneaker. To this day Nike still re-releases these from time to time.

Jordan Jeter Six4Three –Nike 643

Derek Jeter had many signature kicks, but the Six4Three Taking was one of the most popular shoes in his line. The name of the sneaker was in reference to 6-4-3 double play that was a Jeter specialty on the diamond. The Six4Three had a full-grain leather upper to give you a secure fit, while Nike Sphere lining was utilized for comfort. The dual-density Phylon provided cushioning in the midsole, while the outsole had pyramid traction pattern for extra grip.

sosaFila Sosa – Fila

Modeled after a shark the Fila Sosa was inspired by Sammy Sosa. There were not too many other sneakers made specifically for him due to the fact that Sosa was linked to taking steroids. That lost some of his credibility around the league so Fila didn’t make it a priority to design more sneakers for him.

Lunar Vapor Trout – Nike

Inspired by Mike Trout’s powerful combination of speed and strength, the hybrid design of the Nike Lunar Vapor Trout Men’s Baseball Cleat provides support, speed and strength in the field. Air Diamond Turf – Nike

This ballpark classic was created for Deion “Primetime” Sanders. He and Bo Jackson made their claim to fame as being two sport athletes. Both played football and baseball. The Air Diamond turf was recently revamped with a lightweight synthetic leather and mesh upper that provides durability, breathability and style. The Phylon midsole combines with an encapsulated heel Air-Sole unit to give you supreme cushioning. The aggressive solid rubber nike-air-diamond-turf-wolf-greyoutsole grips where the others slip, putting you out front to stay.
