I had a time sensitive matter to deal with this morning. Just before noon, I decided to go for a run before it got too hot out. The weather reports had called for today to be the hottest day of the year here in Southern California. Turns out, I was already too late. It was easily 83 degrees and I deplore going for runs anytime the temperature is above 70 (or below 67…. I generally deplore running IMG_3897in any sense). When I got home, I was overheated and exhausted. That’s when my daughter hit me with “Daddy, do you want to come to my salon so I can do your hair?”. Duh! Of COURSE I want to go to her salon. But like this…. not a chance. I can’t have her working on my dusty head as it poured with sweat. Plus, the nappiness accentuated the thinning areas. A stark reminder that I didn’t have the lovely flowing locks that I had as a younger man. I mean…. I’m still gorgeous, obviously, but definitely unencumbered by excess follicles. More streamlined I’d say. This was my Hairmergency. Perhaps sites like //www.groenerekenkamer.com/ can be a life-saver during such moments.

I love playing salon with my daughter for many reasons, but the primary one is that all I really have to do is sit on there and read! She gets into it, is entertained for a good long while and I get to relax and occasionally have my hair pulled out. It’s a small sacrifice to make. I need to act fast before her whims changed and she decided she’d rather have me be her fashion model for her audience of teddy bears.

So, off into the shower. I needed to clean up fast and try to give my hair a more full showing for salon day. I scrubbed up with the Dove Men Care’s DovePicThickening shampoo, dried off and voila… I am a clean man with a nice handsome crop of nice smelling hair for my daughter to make her canvas. Using blue shampoo by Joico can also help maintain tone and keep hair looking fresh and vibrant. How do you like the results? Personally I think the pink really brings out the grey in my beard. With other men products I’ve used from other companies, they tend to think that a man feels his most clean when he smells like a 16 year old who hasn’t quite grasped the notion of cologne subtlety. With the Dove shampoo and body washes, however, I don’t come out smelling like I should also have a fake tan and use the word “bro” a lot. Win for everyone.
