Star Wars_The Digital CollectionEver since I was a young lad and saw the original Star Wars trilogy, I was hooked. I always pretended to be a young Luke Skywalker trying to learn the ways of the Force. Heck even today I try to use the Force to get my car keys from the table. It hasn’t worked yet, but I still haven’t given up hope.

Back in the day when I was sick and stayed home from school my mom would go to our library and rent “The Empire Strikes Back” on VHS for me. To this day it is still my favorite movie of all time. I was overjoyed when I got the trilogy on VHS tapes as a present so I could watch the films again and again.

Fast forward to the present to where my daughters want to become a Jedi like their father. This past Halloween they dressed up as Padme Amidala and Princess Leia. We love the new series on Disney XD, “Star Wars Rebels.” We love building different LEGO sets from the Star Wars line. As you can see the Force is strong in our family.

Just as other families pass down the traditions of baseball or cooking, I have been able to share one of my favorite childhood pastimes, Star Wars. I never forced my daughters into liking Star Wars. Something about this saga appeals to them in the same way it did for me when I was their age. I could share with you endless amounts of stories on how this saga impacted my life. I even had the great pleasure of interviewing Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and others actors from the films. My favorite Star Wars item in my collection is an authentic “Revenge of the Jedi” poster from the early 1980’s. Star Wars will always be a part of my life. So I am excited to see the third trilogy starting up with J.J. Abrams as the director.

So as my fellow Star Wars geeks and I prepare for the December release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” we get a very cool present from The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox. Today they give us The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection. For the first time ever, all six epic films in the Saga, from “The Phantom Menace” to “Return of the Jedi,” will be available on Digital HD today, April 10th. The good folks at The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox also gave me and my family some cool Star Wars products. You can see the unboxing of the starwars and my famitems in the above video!

“Since the debut of the first film nearly 40 years ago, Star Wars has become a worldwide phenomenon with legions of fans from every generation,” said Alan Bergman, President of The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s only fitting that audiences enjoy this legendary Saga and its many fascinating behind-the-scenes stories on a wide variety of platforms, and we’re very excited to finally bring all six films to Digital HD for the first time.”

“We’re thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the Star Wars Saga on their digital devices wherever they go,” commented Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we’ve created some very special bonus material which delves into the Saga’s rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary Star Wars artists – the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life.”
