INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.
I love when an artist can be totally captivating while being almost entirely instrumental. Eliminated elements of things often don’t produce the best results. Raisins, for example are the worst thing a grape could become when water is taken away (wine, obviously being the gold standard.) For bands like Ratatat, Rodrigo Y Gabriella and now Delicate Steve, having no, or sparse lyrics, only serves to make the music that much better. You find yourself immersed in Delicate Steve’s pan cultural mix of electronic, experimental indie and pop-rock music, most (or all) of which he plays himself. Today, you should add his music to your playlists. It’s excellent to have music emote the way his does, with his guitar being the main “voice” but one that doesn’t overpower everything else he has going on.
