INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT  NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.

Miya Folick

This week’s article is on the brilliant Miya Folick. My guess is that everyone will eventually know her, so get in early. While mostly crafting pop balladry, she defies genre by weaving in some elements of country twang here and there, and 80’s synth at other times. The genre bending works well with her vocal range which has soaring ascents and brooding depth to match any musical or thematic shifts. Her lyricism is smart and cutting, while also being uplifting and inspiring. Comparisons to both Adelle and Florence Welch have rightly followed her and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her artistry being taking her to similar heights of renown.
