Amanda Blank

I just surprised myself at how little Hip-Hop I’ve covered. 17 music posts in and this is the first one I’ve made?? For shame. Well this week I’m featuring Philadelphia based rapper/ singer Amanda Blank and if you don’t know her music, you should be thanking me for introducing you to her. Her music has been featured on TV shows and commercials in the US, and her collaborations with Spank Rock, Major Lazer and Plastic Little have heightened their music. If you’re a fan of M.I.A., Rye Rye or Santigold (who is sampled on Lemme Get Some.) Beyond her rapping, her singing is pretty friggin good as well, as evidenced in “A Love Song” and “Leaving You Behind”. She’s been around and on the scene for quite a few years now, and I’m hoping her album from 2009 isn’t the only one she offers up. (NSFW lyrics…. depending on where you work I suppose.)
