INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.
The New Pornographers
It’s time that you started listening to The New Pornographers (assuming that you don’t already) because if you’re not, you’re missing out on some musical magic. Worse than that, you might actually know the band but haven’t had a real chance to explore beyond songs you’ve heard on commercials. Without the “Pornographers” in their name, I’m certain they would have gained more mainstream recognition beyond placements in University of Phoenix, Kindle and Hyundai ads. You only have to take a quick glance at this Indie “Supergroup” to recognize that the culminated talents will have stellar output with myriad background influences. You can hear some alt-country mixed with straight rock that is mingling with bluesy rockabilly. Make room in most of your playlists for music that is going to compliment any mood. Bad, good, somber, excited, sad…. It’s all there. Decisions on which album to listen to are all you’ll need to worry about, with no bad choice amongst them. With powerhouses Carl Newman (from Zumpano), The Evaporator’s John Collins, the phenomenal Neko Case, and Destroyer’s Dan Bejar, this collection puts out pure excellence.
