INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.
Sleepy Gonzales
You know when you’re totally into a band and you want to share them with everyone so they can also bask in the awesomeness of their creations? Brightened melodies and deep, meaningful lyricism would abound for all those who listened. My intentions this week were to bring one such band to this series, but it’ll have to wait (sorry Crooked Fingers, I still love you.) Week after week I’ve spurned choices and recommendations from friends, and this week I’ll have to relent. So instead of the band I had initially planned to write, I’m going for plan B which is also a very good selection for you to add to your playlists. Sleepy Gonzales is excellent dreamy pop for days when you just want to kick back and relax. Beautiful harmonies float over country-ish slide guitar on tracks like “Balancing Act”, and picked up tempos churn along on the terrific “Why Do You Have To make Me Wait So Long.” For most of the music, the slow pace fits the name Sleepy Gonzalez. It’s a low key ride that fit a mellow mood. Bonus info, the band name is something completely bizarre on Urban Dictionary. Something maybe they didn’t know about, but I’m certain my friend did when she chose this band to feature. For shame…….
