INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT  NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.

Tim Darcy

I stumbled onto Tim Darcy when one of my playlists ended and Spotify went to its radio mode which can sometimes be rad, but often is not. Literally listened intently for a solid 2 minutes before I realized I wasn’t discovering some old Lou Reed that I somehow had overlooked. Don’t you love when something like that happens? Know all of someone’s music and then discover a gem? What I had mistaken for the cantankerous NYer was actually Tim Darcy who’s music is clearly heavily influenced by The Velvet Underground. Happened again later when I would have sworn I was listening to Talking Heads (so that’s two of my favorite bands accounted for in his music.) Why hasn’t anyone told me about him before this? The solo work he does is more personal in nature than his work with his band Ought, though both are pretty awesome. Anger, love, frustrations and all the regular rock and roll themes are played beautifully over melodies that vary from pure fuzz rock to sparse guitar plucking and jangly post-punk that is all pretty rad.
