INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.

TV Girl

It’s bands like TV Girl that give me a sense of nostalgia for mid-late 90’s alt-pop-rock. Weird reverb, hollow echoing effects and lyrics that cut through bullshit to the bare bones of relationship pack the songs from this LA trio. That and mixtures of genre blending samples make it seem like some of the best of The Breeders, or Beck or…..now I feel like I should name another B band…..Blind Melon?? (not really them at all.) I really love the dreamy Indie Pop qualities of almost all of the songs. Don’t go in thinking that it’s music to doze to though. Know that the storytelling qualities of each song will have you hooked, even if the music itself doesn’t do the trick. You can bask in their awesomeness for their marvelous current sound, or for the nostalgia factor so you don’t have to keep play your awful Smash Mouth CD. Anymore, that is.
