ShitKid

Loads of bands out there do llo-fi, sparse punk, but ShitKid tends to stand out among them. Most of her music features fuzzy guitars, a simple drum beat and fantastic lyrics from this 24 year old Swede. Songs that were recorded in kitchens and mixed with garageband feel more polished than more professionally produced music that try to sound like they recorded in kitchens. It’s her authenticity (leaving Sweden on her own at 16 and touring on trains with a shoestring budget) that makes her work stand out. Her brand of post-punk gives a clear middle finger to mainstream pop, and it’s pretty fucking rad.
