Helsinki based PMMP should be more well known in the United States, given the high levels of Finnish speakers living in our inner cities and throughout the midwest. It’s hard to stress the appeal their genre crossing music has. Given their sound is so varied, it’s hard to assign them to any one particular sound. Melodic pop on one song transforms to rock balladry in the next and then to sythwave Finnish rap? I think that’s a thing. If it wasn’t they made it a thing. It’s too bad they don’t record anymore, but what they created through the early 2,000’s is pretty great and you should be checking them out.
