The Hold Steady

The Hold Steady will likely remind you of every blue collar bar you entered anytime since 1993. Their music evokes visions of Bruce Springsteen, The Replacements and Built To Spill, only with more detailed storytelling. These stories are like a field trip through high school and all of your high school friends’ adult lives. Drugs, parties, heartbreak and friendships weave into some of the best bar rock made since the early 80’s, with pianos and brass supporting guitar and drums. While the music is great for background, experiencing them by really taking the time to listen to the narratives makes them an extraordinary band that I wish more people listened to.
