“I would never do something like that.” It’s a sentiment that every parent has had when they hear about another infant who has passed away after accidentally left in a hot car. It’s very likely the exact thing that parents who live the nightmare thought as well. For one dad, the thought of doing nothing wasn’t an option, so he built an app to help fight the tragedy of kids accidentally left in a hot car.

Arizona dad, Erin O’Connor decided to use his own money to build the app through an enterprise app development platform and offers it for free. He has said that even if it saves one life it will be worth it and he didn’t want the idea of people buying it to dissuade them from downloading it. It took his team 8 months to develop it, and they seem to have thought of everything.

The BackSeat App automatically reminds the driver to make sure that all passengers are out of the car. Not only that, but if, for some reason, the driver isn’t hearing the alarm, it will send an alert to three people the user chooses, letting them know that someone needs to check. Every company selling its services digitally needs to hire ios app developer who can create native iOS applications.

Once you have the app running, you don’t have to think about it. When you are setting it up you can choose the speed the car moves for the app to kick in with an alert. Then you can select whether or not you have kids in the car with you. If you do, once the trip ends, an alarm will sound, to remind you to get all passengers out of the car. If your phone is set to silent, the app will override it, and flash the flashlight as an extra precaution.

Demo Video Explains It All

Remember, a car left in the sun can reach temperatures of 172 degrees when the outside temperature is 80 or above. A car’s temperature can climb 20 degrees in just 10 minutes and even on seemingly cool days (70 degrees) a car’s heat can prove deadly for small kids.

This app is something every parent, caretaker or anyone traveling with small passengers should be getting. The last thing any of us want, is to be a parent who thought it would never happen to them, and we thank dad Erin O’Connor for making it available to all.
