That’s me and my immediate family this past Easter.

I never wanted to go skydiving.  Jumping out of an airplane was never on my bucket list, it just seemed like the most insane activity of all time.

My wife always wanted to go skydiving, and she planned a trip with her friends a few years back.  She figured she would never do it once she had kids, so why not do it now?

I’m a competitive person, so even though not one percent of me wanted to do this stunt, I also didn’t want Lucy to have bragging rights forever.  We were going to have kids some day, and they couldn’t think they’re dad was a chicken.

So…I surprised her on the day of the big jump, and put on my own blue skydiving suit.

We signed away our lives, met the guys that were going to be attached to our backs, and were off.   Watch the video to the right, and you’ll see our entire journey.

My two favorite parts of the video:

1)      My natural instinct to push myself back into the plane as we are about to jump out.  The guy tied to my back throws me out anyway.

2)      I was so scared and tense while falling that my guide had to literally pull my hands from my harness so I would loosen up.  With my hands free, I did not loosen up at all.

It was not cool.  It was not fun.  And I never want to do it again.

But I guess I’m glad I did.  It was the second scariest moment of my life.

Tomorrow I’ll share the scary moment number one…The Death Hike in Hawaii…
