Just after the Grammy Awards and a day before the Oscars, the first annual Barbara Awards were held at a kids friendly venue in Los Angeles.
The red carpet birthday party event celebrated Barbara Anne Riles turning one year old. Each of the fifteen children in attendance were nominees, and by the end of the party, they all had their own Barbara Award.
The red carpet featured hats, sunglasses, and bedazzled onesies. Guests travelled from lands such as Illinois and Orange County.
Jacques de La Cruz, The Count, and Todd from The Real Housedads of Orange County were all in attendance. Even The Count’s masseuse from “The Brazilian” episode made an appearance.
Tom Riles was named as the host of this year’s Barbara Awards, and thus was the only person wearing a tuxedo. He may actually be the first award show host to perform his opening monologue in a pool full of red balls.
Early reviews on Riles’ performance were slightly positive, although after his opening joke about Barbara Walters, Barbara Boxer, and Barbara Bush all being old, you could hear crickets.
Make no mistake, this was Babs’ night. She arrived in a red Baby Gap designer dress, and worked the red carpet with friends, family, and more.
Babs was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, and in her speech, reading off of a note card, she said, “Mamamamama……Dadadadadad…Nananananana.”
The pita sandwiches were catered by the high-scale Ralph’s Supermarket, and the cupcakes were designed by Cassie Piper of TheCupcakeDiary.com.
