I wish language wasn’t such a barrier with music. If it wasn’t, chances are you would have had Yelle in you iTunes library for a few years now. This trio from France has been performing together for over a decade and have released three acclaimed albums that have evolved the sound to match the influences of each member. The band consists of lead singer Julie Budet (Yelle), Jean-François Perrier* (GrandMarnier), and Tepr (Tanguy Destable) who all have backgrounds in different styles of music. From hip hop, to rock and electro, Yelle’s sound is best described as artsy synth pop. I don’t know, maybe someone can describe it better, but that’s how I see it.
