My morning was relatively shitty today. Granted, half of that was due to the red wine hangover which was self inflicted but what happened next was a tragedy.

My 2 year old daughter broke my blender =[

My pride and joy

My pride and joy

I was distraught. I tweeted about it:

Shit then got real when I discovered the blender Tom recommended isn’t available in Australia (double =[ ). Pretty sure we are now engaged..

Back to the blender. I’ve been getting into smoothies lately because I like throwing all the fruit I can find into a glass container listening to it whizz up and I found that it is a good way to get my girls to eat fruit. As I calmed myself and began the search for a replacement blender, I started thinking.

Tom responded to my cry for help, a complete stranger who knows we have one thing in common, our kids like to break shit. No matter what country we live in, kids will be kids.

I see Dad blogging as a brotherhood. I think I heard someone (probably on the after show) talking about how Dad 2.0 was like a gathering of long lost brothers. I reckon it would’ve felt like that. All these dudes who talk to each other online, read each others stories, getting together for beer and karaoke.

We all share something in common, the sometimes incredibly frustrating pleasure that is Fatherhood. No matter what religion/belief/race/country/language, we all go through the same shit. Yes, being a parent is extremely rewarding but it can also be incredibly annoying (like when you’re hungover and just want to sleep).

Being a Dad blogger is more than just sharing stories online for randoms to read. I think of it as a challenge to find friends that I would have never met in normal day to day life. To this end, whilst I was cooking dinner for my kids (that they promptly threw back in my face) I was thinking “wouldn’t it be cool to send something from Australia to a new found friend somewhere?”

You guys can choose to tell me to f**k off if you want, but I’m going to extend an invitation to everyone.

I’ll send you something from Canberra, Australia, if you send me something in return.

Doesn’t have to cost a lot of money (hell knows, I’ve got none) but I want to start collecting evidence that Dad blogging is more than just sitting in front of my computer screen in my underwear. Plus, it’s something you can share with the kids and even write a blog post about.

So who’s keen? You can email me your address and I’ll send you something from Australia.
