Hello, and welcome to a (so far) untitled blog!  I am new to blogging, but not as new to being a dad.  Websites like Life of Dad have given me a way to connect with other dads from around the world and that has been a lot of fun.

In my opinion, the best way to learn anything is from a community of people who have done it before.  While there are mountains of books (many of them useful) on how to be a dad, for me, there are better ways to learn about any topic, but especially parenting.

The first way to learn (for me) is by doing.  I was amazed that after only four and a half days in the hospital, my wife and I were allowed to simply walk out the door with a tiny, helpless, human.  There is more paperwork and education required to drive a car than to raise a child, that’s kind of crazy to me.  Luckily for me, my wife had done plenty of research to prepare us for our first child.  I had read a few books and attended “Daddy Boot Camp” but I knew that was only scratching the surface of what I would learn over the next eighteen or so years.  My education as a parents started in February of 2014 and has yet to even slow down.  In fact, it graduated to the next level in March of 2016, parenting two children!

The second way that I learn is from others who have done this before.  When I wanted to learn how to play golf I went to some one with decades of experience in golf.  When I wanted to learn how to hunt, I went to some one with decades of experience.  There is a pattern here.  Communities like Be A Dad, Not A Fad and Life of Dad have been a great source of information, inspiration, and (just as important) humor.

I am not sure what the theme of this blog will be, if there is a constant theme at all, but I am hoping it will at least be useful and entertaining to anyone who may read it.  I am always open to comments and suggestions and I look forward to any/all feedback.

Again, welcome, and thank you for reading this short introduction.
