Here is the same letter in real text, if it is easier to read…

Dear Mark,

I wanted to thank you for all of your hard work on Facebook, which has changed the lives of parents and families in a positive way.

As the creator of www.LifeofDad.com, the first social network for fathers, I’m connected to many parents via my website, as well as through Facebook.

The experience you have given us to connect so effectively and seamlessly with parents who are just like us, is truly incredible.  I have found myself in the middle of a fantastic dad/mom community on Facebook, which is making parenting different than it ever has been before.

Here are a few ways that Facebook has changed parenting:

–        Couples must determine the appropriate time to go Facebook public with their pregnancies

–        Dads can surprise the moms to be by setting up a Facebook Event for the child’s live birth

–        Status updates, photos, and notes make it possible to return almost no phone calls or emails after birth.

–        Parents are guaranteed to feel extremely loved by friends and family when the first picture of their newborn is posted on Facebook

–        When confused, parents can easily ask questions to different parenting groups on Facebook

–        Once home from the hospital, the extremely busy dads and moms can stay connected with their friends much more easily via Facebook.  Who has time for real communication?

–        After caring for a baby all day, parents need an instant connection with the outside world.  Facebook, is the quickest, easiest, and best way to do this.

Finally, I think timeline is a great feature for parents.  Timeline can be used in ways much like a baby book, tracking baby milestones, adding photos, and sharing them with family and friends.

I’m sure you receive a fair amount of letters complaining about many aspects of Facebook, so this letter was meant to be the opposite.

Thank you for everything you do, and have done for Facebook, which has helped young parents stay connected to the real world more than ever.

Oh yeah, and my website would be nowhere near as successful without my fan base on Facebook.  Thanks a lot, Mark.

Requesting friendship,

Tom Riles
