Today we honor Garret Hubbard, Colonel, USMCR.  Garret has two kids, Bryce (15) and Chase (13) with his loving wife, Ann.

Having been in the USMC and USMCR for 26 years, Garret has devoted his life to our country, while being a great dad at the same time.  Garret is incredibly intelligent, and loves being a Marine, which shows as he has risen through the ranks to become a Colonel.

Garret has a degree in History from the US Naval Academy (USMC option, Infantry Officer) and a Master’s degree in Post-Secondary, Adult Education.

Garret and Ann met when they were both stationed in the Phillipines, and have been together ever since.  After having two boys, they moved to Maine in 2001, and Garret received his mobilization orders a few months later.  Unfortunately, Garret has only lived in their home for about three months since 2001.

Although he’s not at home, Garret continues to be an extraordinary dad through Skype, Facetime, and email, while he talks to his sons about homework, girls, school, and music.  When Garret is home, he has taught his sons how to mow the lawn, canoe, fish, and hunt.   Garret also loves to take his boys camping, hiking, snowmobiling and swimming.  When possible, Garret takes Bryce and Chase to historic Civil War and Revolutionary War battle sites, and teaches the boys about the battles, and why they are so important to our country’s history.

In 2005, Garret was transferred to New Orleans, Marine Forces Reserve Command 7 weeks before Hurricane Katrina.  His family was able to safely evacuate the danger zone, and they ended up in Fort Worth, TX for the following three months.

Throughout his continuing 26 years of service for this great country, Garret has married, raised two kids, and been a courageous and outstanding man.

We are proud to salute Garret Hubbard, Colonel, USMCR, today, as one heck of a heroic dad.
