Peach Kelli Pop

This week I’m writing about Peach Kelli Pop. An LA based band that produces some fantastically tight, all-girl surf punk. Harmonious lyrics about subjects like lost loves, imagined phone calls to former relationships and self doubt butt up against songs Japanese Manga theme songs, bath products and odes to tight leather. Most of their music skews towards the upbeat, even when tackling darker subjects like loneliness and depression. It’s a nice representation of the facade some people have to wear, even when what’s inside isn’t matching the sunny presentation. The sound is like the 60’s Shangli-La’s and present day Bleached decided to make a grittier version of themselves and formed something new and wonderful. I can’t wait to see them live sometime, and you should be adding them to your playlists.
