INTRODUCING YOU TO BANDS YOU MIGHT  NOT KNOW, BUT TOTALLY SHOULD.

The Feelies

The Feelies are a band that I listened to slightly in the early nineties then promptly forgot about. This was when I was introduced to The Velvet Underground, Gang of Four and Television. I wish I had paid more attention to them then. These experimental, post-punk avante-pop pioneers deserve to be held in as high esteem as the aforementioned. Layered guitars and jumpy percussions surround lyrics that are at times melodic and at other times barked yelps. At times lyrics are absent for extended periods as repeated rhythms and weaving instrumentals take over to create their own feel. I wish I hadn’t forgotten them for as long as I did, and if you knew them before, you should revisit. If you didn’t, now’s the time to pick up on one of the better bands of the early 80’s.
