It is a privilege of mine to be a blog ambassador for St. Jude. I had the opportunity to visit the campus this past spring and see the amazing work that is being done there. It is also my pleasure to share some of the fundraising efforts, but more importantly – how those funds go to help families in need of help.

The most amazing thing that I learned during my trip to St. Jude is that the hospital is committed to making sure that parents can focus on caring for their child by removing the financial burden from the equation.

I recently had the opportunity to chat with Richard Shadyac Jr (President and Chief Executive Officer at ALSAC) and Jenny, the mother of a St. Jude patient – Mabry.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and to commemorate this, raise awareness and funds, people are encouraged to join the fight against childhood cancer by participating in, or donating to, one of the 61 St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer events across the country.  Please check out the video below to see what Rick and Jenny had to say about this upcoming event and the advances that St. Jude is making in the fight against childhood cancer.

Need more incentive to donate? Consider this information presented by St. Jude:

This year, parents of 16,000 children in the U.S. will hear the words: “Your child has cancer.” One in five of those children diagnosed will not survive. For more than 50 years St. Jude has changed the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer, helping push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent. As cancer remains the No. 1 cause of death from disease in children under the age of 14, there is much work left to be done. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
