Week 3 is now in the books. I want say congrats to Mike of “Team Puppies” in the Life of Dad West Conference for winning the NFL T-shirt from Junk Food Clothing. Well done sir! Your team had the most points out of all the 24 dads for the Life of Dad Fantasy League this week.

Alright, alright let’s get to it. This week in the NFL proved that you can’t take anything for granted. The Miami Dolphins are tied for first place with the New England Patriots in the AFC East as they both have a 3-0 record. The NFC East is a bit different. The Giants, Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys have the same amount of wins combined as the Kansas City Chiefs do. Speaking of the Chiefs they are 3-0 just like New England and Miami. Crazy huh?

How about the San Francisco 49ers? As the 9ers head coach, Jim Harbaugh says, “Who has it better than us?” Usually the team responds, “Nobody” after celebrating a win. Yet this year the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts do since they both smacked the 49ers around these past two weeks. As a fan of the 9ers I am nervous with the off the field issues just as the on the field issues. Is this a Super Bowl hangover? Could be.

Just as in the real world of football, the fantasy world is just as crazy and ever changing. Guess who was one of the top five quarterbacks this week for fantasy? If you said Jake Locker from the Tennessee Titans and put him as your starter, your gusty call proved to be a good one.

Speaking of crazy, how about them Cleveland Browns? Jordan Cameron, the Browns defense, Josh Gordon, and third string QB Brian Hoyer were all amazing this weekend as the team got their first win of the season. Browns fans like Creed aka The Captain in our FFL are happy to see a ray of sunlight shine down in Cleveland after Trent Richardson’s surprising trade to Indy this past week.

Even with all these surprises in the fantasy football world some things still remain constant. Take the Saints high scoring tandem of Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham for example. Brees has thrown 4 touchdowns to Graham so far in these three weeks. The two are picking up where they left off last year. There is a reason why both players were picked up in Round 1 or 2 in many fantasy leagues this year.

The Chicago Bears defense for years now have been a worthy pickup in the early rounds. The Bears D continue to score TDs and force turnovers. Just like the Monsters of the Midway back in in the 80’s, these Bears are still a defense to be feared.

Still even though there are some things that stay the same, the NFL is always evolving. Unlike the sick old school track “Same Song” by Digital Underground, fantasy football is not “just the same old song.” Each week you need to check the waiver wire and look how you might improve your team. You can’t just use the same old lineup and think you will win every week especially since bye weeks are now in play!
