“Daddy’s always happy.”
Those are words from Boston Celtics star, Gordon Hayward from a video that he and his wife, Robyn released on her Instagram account. They were doing a gender reveal video for their third child. Gordon and Robyn have two daughters already. I spoke with Gordon about fatherhood that you can check out here!
Video Gone Viral
Some say from that video Gordon wanted to have a son. When Robyn asked him if he was happy Gordon replied, “Daddy’s always happy.”
Since that video Gordon has heard that line over and over again. He writes, “Since the original video went viral, “Daddy’s Always Happy” has kind of taken on a life of its own. People are always saying it to me on social media or when I’m streaming on Twitch.”
He goes on to say, “For me, it’s turned into a metaphor for being a parent, and all the responsibilities that go with it. On the one hand, you’re happy and blessed to have your family. On the other hand, it’s challenging and surprising and hard work in ways you can’t imagine before becoming a parent. But ultimately, you have to embrace it and find the happiness that’s right there in front you.”

Paying It Forward
When Gordon spoke with me about some of the about some of the values he looks to teach his kids as they grow up he can pass on the value of paying it forward. That is what he doing with the sales of these new shirts.
A portion of all the proceeds are going to support Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. MSPCC is an organization for people who are 21 and under who can’t afford baby necessities. There are a lot of people who are young parents, and they can’t afford the things that babies need.
